Netometer ping data are collected every 15 minutes, every day of the year. Ten sites are pinged 10 times each, and grand mean minimum, mean mean, and mean max ping times are archived. This chart shows mean minimum, mean mean, or mean max ping time frequencies with 84 categories evenly dividing the variable range.

FYI: Regression on these DFA data points gives a line with slope of 0.80 and y-intercept of 0.87. The correlation coefficient is 0.991610467128708.

The slope values may be interpreted as follows:

SlopeInterpretation
.5Totally random sequence; no self-similarity
1.0Power-law (1/f) sequence; self-similarity at many scales
1.5Brownian motion (random walk)

This program is a version of demo.cgi by Sanford Morton, heavily modified by Michael Grobe to include data input, categorization, and regression. The program uses Perl module Chart::Plot, written by Sanford Morton and downloaded from www.speakeasy.org, to draw plots.
