H.350

H.350 is an LDAP schema designed to itemize user endpoint equipment and record configuration info for that equipment.

H.350 databases should be able to work as backends to both H.323 gatekeepers and SIP servers. It currently works with Radvision ECS gatekeepers, HCL SIP Proxy Servers, Tandberg Management Servers, etc.

H.350 is ViDe's contribution to the goal of voice/video communication among every person on earth. It aims to support:

Note that H.350 is designed to mesh with SIPs need for scalable databases of user endpoint options as multiple users attempt to negotiate a workable medium of communication over different devices.

H.350 is defined under the auspices of Study Group 16 of the ITU, which is, in turn, part of the UN, and US interests are represented by the US Department of State (now apparently mediated by Homeland Security). Study Group 16 focuses on multimedia services (323, 320, 264, etc.), and charges 7K$ for individual university membership.

In particular, systems for archiving video along with metadata allowing the digital entries to be returned as search results. There are several products for doing this. An open source tool for archiving and serving MPEG resources was also described.
